The holiday farmhouse "Isola Verde" is situated in Cerreto Guidi, nestled in between the hills of Montalbano and the river Arno. Far away from the hectic life, "Isola Verde" allows you to enjoy an authentic Tuscan lifestyle with it's famous food and wine.

Cerreto Guidi owes its name to the earls Guidi, the medieval feudal lords, who had built a castle, from where they dominated the area for some centuries.
After their dominion, between 1255 and 1273 the castle and the lands were sold to the Florentins.
Therefore Cerreto Guidi entered into the sphere of Florence as a territory of the country of the Lilies City and became a place for holiday and hunting of the Medicean court.
Since 1542 the presence of Cosimo I dei Medici were noted at Cerreto Guidi.
1567 by order of Cosimo 1 at the place of the antique castle were raised his residence "Villa Medicea".
In 1567 Cosimo I dei Medici bought a portion of land in Cerreto that had the name "Callaiola", which means "Island of the Hill."
He chose this place for its beauty and its strategic position.
Here, in 1570, Cosimo I had the MEDICEAN HOUSE CALLAIOLA built in the center of his farm under the direction of architect Gerolamo Marsuppini.

Because of this history, the current owner, Riccardo Tamburini, has called his farmhouse, situated in Via Callaiola, "Isola Verde" , "Green Island".

Over the centuries Callaiola has continued to enjoy the benefits if its ideal location in the Tuscan countryside.

Nowadays the country house offers unique hospitality with our rooms and apartments.
